Lord of the Flies: Create your own country, when you have no choice.

Years ago, I read William Golding's famous novel Lord of the Flies for the first time, and have had it in my collection for as long. The plot concerns a group of English boys during World War II who have to evacuate Singapore as the Japanese Army advances down the Malay Peninsula. They board a plane to escape, but it is shot down by Japanese gunners and crashes into the ocean.

Who "owns" the American Revolution?

If I had lived somewhere in the Thirteen Colonies of Great Britain during the late 18th century and read that some well-to-do rebels had composed, published, and under-signed the "Declaration of Independence," I would have reacted like most people, "Boy, are we in trouble!" People do not like anyone to mess with a government's functionality. We do not think on a grand political plane. We want to pay our bills, have a bit left over for the weekend, and stay healthy. Acquiring knowledge mostly involves what keeps us employed.

Money is Cheap

I have been a Facebook member since the Covid lockdown in 2020 and have been impressed by the large number of Facebook bloggers who identify as Democrat-Socialists, who want the government to tax the wealthy in order to increase revenue to spend on the poor. I include the logos of some of the most tendentious bloggers I have encountered.
